Just as the early American settlers flocked west in the pursuit of riches and adventure, music lovers will be making their way to Arizona for the experience of a lifetime. This September, Arizona’s Rawhide Western Town will be hosting over 50 EDM and Hip-Hop acts at this year’s 2018 Goldrush Music Festival.
As Phoenix grows, so does its burgeoning music scene. The music section has become one of the biggest parts of the Phoenix New Times magazine and more and more artists are adding Arizona venues to their touring routes every year. The influx of popularity in the scene, and EDM in particular, is largely due to the culture surrounding it. The rave world is focused around the acronym, PLUR; Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. The PLUR way of life is present at every EDM show - large and small - although the sense of community that comes with it is mostly found at large gatherings such as Electric Daisy Carnival or Electric Forest. With the growth of the Goldrush festival, Arizonans will finally have an opportunity to cultivate that true PLUR experience right here in our very own backyard.
With headliners like Deadmaus, Illenium, Kevin Gates Steve Aoki, and Rich the Kid, it is no doubt that hundreds of fans will make the trek into the desert this fall to see them all at one festival. Not to mention the surplus of other talented artists that will performing sets there as well such as: Vince Staples, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Troy Boi, JPEGMAFIA, Slander, Juice WRLD and Virtual Riot, many of whom made appearances at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. Based on the feedback from all of this year’s attendees, their sets were indescribable and should be highly anticipated. Many quoted the festival as being “an ear orgasm,” and knowing these artists and their talents, they will bring those same “orgasmic” sounds with them to Rawhide.
Whether you are a die-hard raver, lover of Hip-Hop or new to the festival scene all together, this is a can’t miss festival experience for sure. So get your beads ready, fill your water bottles and prep your neck for heavy headbanging because this September the bass will drop, the sand will shake and the adrenaline will rush at GOLDRUSH 2018!
