EMILY DARTY

My name is Emily Darty and I am the owner of my artist brand Dream Visions. I am from Florida originally but moved to Colorado two years ago to help progress my career in artistry. Ever since I can remember, Ive been expressing myself artistically and always identified with being an artist.

It’s hard to describe how painting makes me feel but the best way I can put it is that it makes me feel whole. Completely fulfilled and confident in myself. At one with my visions and my deep inner world. As I venture into the furthest reaches of my imagination, I am bringing a piece of my heart and soul out and spilling it onto a surface and presenting it to the world.

Refurbished, hand painted thrift store galaxy mandala moon mirror with rhinestone accents.

Ive kind of made a niche for myself for making and selling custom mini wood paintings out of these repurposed materials. I also find all kinds of functional items that I paint and turn into functional art. Ive made coasters, mirrors, stash boxes, trays, magnets and more. I love my art being as unique as possible from the surface its painted on to the painting itself. My work is colorful and vibrant. Psychedelic and Mystical. Dreamy and Surreal.

Me holding my “development” painting, acrylic on canvas.

Acrylics are my main medium though I love to experiment with many different mediums including, watercolors, pencils, markers. I enjoy mixing mediums too to create different effects and unique imagery.

Galaxy sisters both painted on repurposed wood blocks from goodwill.

I like to use wood canvases a lot of the time. I often go to thrift stores and search for hidden treasures. I always find these wood plaques that are all shaped differently and they make great canvases and they are much cheaper and environmentally friendly to reuse than to buy new. Ive kind of made a niche for myself for making and selling custom mini wood paintings out of these repurposed materials.

FULL BIOGRAPHY

My name is Emily Darty and I am the owner of my artist brand Dream Visions. I am from Florida originally but moved to Colorado two years ago to help progress my career in artistry. Ever since I can remember, Ive been expressing myself artistically and always identified with being an artist. At first I started with colored pencils and markers mainly just drawing a lot growing up. It wasn’T until about 4 years ago that I started experimenting with painting and that was the moment when I truly felt like I found my calling. Painting is soothing and therapeutic to me. It challenges me and draws out my internal issues while simultaneously healing them. Its hard to describe how painting makes me feel but the best way I can put it is that it makes me feel whole. Completely fulfilled and confident in myself. At one with my visions and my deep inner world. As I venture into the furthest reaches of my imagination, I am bringing a piece of my heart and soul out and spilling it onto a surface and presenting it to the world. When I cant quite figure out myself I can always rely on my paintbrush to bring out my inner most self and expose it directly to me like a mirror. A lot of what I paint are very happy and fun imagery rainbows, flowers, butterflies, etc.. I believe this is because those messages are a reminder that I need often having suffered my entire life from anxiety and depression which painting has also helped me with. I remind myself that there is so much beauty in life and to not dwell in my negative space which I tend to do. I think that the messages I receive/transcribe into artwork are partially for me and also partially for the world to be reminded to not take things so seriously. Have fun and enjoy this moment without feeling guilty or any other strings attached. I am often anxious about the future or prolonging the suffering from my past. My art helps me to be in the Present moment and surrender to the now. It helps me remain open to receiving and being received. I spent a lot of my life shut down and art is my way of opening up and blossoming into my own. Acrylics are my main medium though I love to experiment with many different mediums including, watercolors, pencils, markers. I like to use wood canvases a lot of the time. I often go to thrift stores and search for hidden treasures. I always find these wood plaques that are all shaped differently and they make great canvases and they are much cheaper and environmentally friendly to reuse than to buy new. My artwork has a bigger purpose that I am only somewhat conscious of. As I dive deeper into this creative journey I am only reassured more that this is the path for me. Thank you for taking the time to hear my story and share my passion. Take a look around my artwork and take a journey into my heart and soul.
